Se impulsa el turismo de reuniones en BCS

“Con la puesta en marcha de los Centros de Convenciones de La Paz y Los Cabos, Baja California Sur competirá en el mercado nacional e internacional como un destino turístico de calidad para la realización de congresos y reuniones”, afirmó el secretario del ramo en la entidad, Luis Genaro Ruíz Hernández.
El funcionario puntualizó que la actual administración mantiene su compromiso de generar acciones que fortalezcan al turismo sudcaliforniano, y que ello a su vez de traduzca en mayor bienestar y desarrollo social para las familias, de ahí la importancia de promover este segmento turístico.
En ese sentido, detalló que de acuerdo con la Compañía Global Meetings and Tourism Specialists, experta en esta materia, durante el año 2015 el turismo de reuniones generó 566 mil habitaciones por noche en la entidad, cifras que dijo, se incrementarán notablemente al reactivar los Centros.
De igual manera, destacó que los ganadores de la licitación internacional para administrar y operar estos edificios, fueron el Instituto Ferial de Madrid (IFEMA) y Actidea S.A. de C.V., empresas líderes en la industria en organización de ferias y reuniones.
“La puesta en marcha de ambos Centros de Convenciones generará una oportunidad en Baja California Sur para fortalecer el desarrollo turístico, al incrementar la ocupación hotelera; lo que se traducirá en más empleos formales y por su puesto en un mayor crecimiento económico en beneficio de los sudcalifornianos”, añadió el Secretario de Turismo.
Por último, Genaro Ruíz mencionó que a través de este tipo de turismo se atraerá a ejecutivos de reconocidas empresas, así como a inversionistas, lo que abonara a la consolidación de Baja California Sur, como un destino de clase mundial.
Recientemente se anunció que, en el año 2019, el municipio de La Paz será sede del Congreso Meeting Professionals International (MPI) México
Chapter, evento al que asisten profesionales de la industria del turismo de reuniones de todo el mundo.
