Los Cabos, Baja California Sur (BCS).– “Las mujeres que habitan las zonas rurales garantizan la seguridad alimentaria de sus poblaciones, labran la tierra y ayudan a sus comunidades ante al cambio climático”, enfatizó la directora general del Instituto de las Mujeres del Municipio de Los Cabos (IMMLC), Lorena Cortés Torralbo, en el marco de la conmemoración del 15 de octubre: Día Internacional de las Mujeres Rurales.
Mencionó que aún cuando son tan productivas, -en muchos de los casos-, su labor no es valorada, a pesar de que las tareas cotidianas para el abastecimiento de alimentos, cuidado de la niñez, personas enfermas y adultas mayores, son arduas. Asimismo, indicó que las mujeres rurales son excelentes gestoras, -igual que los hombres-, sin embargo no disponen del mismo acceso a la tierra, créditos, o materiales agrícolas.
En este sentido, el IMMLC buscando dar cobertura y atención a quienes residen en la zona rural, cuenta con Coordinaciones en todas las delegaciones municipales, -Cabo San Lucas, Santiago, Miraflores, La Ribera-, así como en la cabecera municipal; en caso de requerir más informes o alguna asesoría, se pone a disposición de la ciudadanía el número fijo del instituto: (624)105-2721 y 22, así como los números celulares de la línea naranja para Cabo San Lucas (624)147-1669 y para San José del Cabo (552)708-8577.
Uno de los objetivos centrales, es brindarles apoyo para que logren su autonomía económica, a través de talleres para autoempleo que las impulsen como emprendedoras y de esta manera mejoren sus ingresos: “cada día, las mujeres rurales acceden al mercado laboral produciendo alimentos, artesanías, manualidades o servicios”, agregó.
Por último, la directora Lorena Cortés destacó que la XIII Administración Municipal, desde el IMMLC trabaja en derribar barreras estructurales y la desigualdad que limita el poder de las mujeres rurales en la participación dentro de sus comunidades y hogares; concluyó haciendo hincapié en que empoderar a este colectivo, no sólo es fundamental para el bienestar de las familias, también para la productividad económica en general.
