En Baja California Sur vemos un avance en cuanto a reconocimiento de los derechos para con los descendientes de comunidades indígenas y afromexicanas consideró la diputada Eufrocina López Velasco, aunque señaló, falta mucho por hacer pues la brecha es grande.
Entrevistada luego de acudir al Foro “Expectativas hacia la reforma constitucional de los pueblos y comunidades indígenas”, organizado por el Tribunal Electoral de Chiapas, reconoció que una de las mayores resistencias que enfrenta la comunidad indígena y afromexicanas es el rechazo y hasta humillaciones, sin embargo, siguen luchando porque se les reconozcan sus derechos y participar en elecciones para lograr espacios públicos, ser la voz del pueblo y de los ciudadanos indígenas y afromexicanos.
Lo anterior, con base en lo estipulado en instrumentos internacionales, y con el mandato presidencial de dar un trato preferencial a los más humildes y olvidados, como ha sido el caso de las comunidades indígenas y afrodescendientes de México.
Apuntó, que la pluriculturalidad, partiendo de la premisa de que los pueblos indígenas y afromexicanos deben ser reconocidos como sujetos de derecho público, que ejercen su libre determinación y autonomía, cuentan con la capacidad para definir libremente sus procesos de desarrollo y bienestar, respetando sus culturas e identidades.
Prueba del avance que en Baja California Sur se está logrando, es la conformación de la actual legislatura, donde hay dos indígenas y un descendiente de afromexicanos como lo son las diputadas Teresita Valentín Vázquez, y Eufrocina López Velasco (de origen mixteco) y Juan Pérez Cayetano, (de origen afromexicano), quienes desde la curul, trabajan para que se concrete la justicia social hacia los pueblos indígenas, una deuda pendiente que como sociedad aún tenemos.
En el Foro al que acudió la representante popular, se analizó el avance de las medidas afirmativas para que las comunidades indígenas sean partícipes y se sumen a construir una sociedad más justa, más democrática.
“Yo considero que este 2024 se logren más espacios para mis hermanos, nos estamos preparando para eso y para trabajar en beneficio de ellos”, comentó la luchadora social, agregando que es el pueblo, el ciudadano quien elige a sus representados, pero a veces en otros estados de la república, por compadrazgo o amiguismo designan puestos por ello la lucha sigue.
