“El patrimonio natural de Baja California Sur, es fuente de desarrollo económico y social para para las familias, por lo que es deber de todos cuidarlo y defenderlo”, señaló el secretario de Turismo, Economía y Sustentabilidad (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López, al informar sobre las labores de la “Campaña verde de limpieza del litoral y fondo marino en la Ensenada de La Paz” que la dependencia encabeza en conjunto con la Organización de Pescadores Rescatando la Ensenada SPR (OPRE).
El funcionario explicó que esta campaña que dio inicio el 04 de diciembre y finaliza el 17 del mismo mes, tiene como propósito limpiar 15 kilómetros de costa y manglares, además de un área de 11.6 kilómetros de las zonas de El Conchalito, El Manglito, El Mogote y El Zacatal, al tiempo que reconoció el esfuerzo de los integrantes de OPRE por llevar a cabo la recolección de basura, tanto la parte terrestre como del fondo marino.
Al destacar que a través del Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística del Estado en La Paz se entregaron 180 mil pesos para invertir en materiales y combustible y así poder realizar esta campaña. De igual manera, subrayó el respaldo de la de la Asociación de Empresas Hoteleras y Turísticas (EMPRHOTUR) y de la Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (ZOFEMAT).
Luis Araiza refirió que La Bahía de La Paz es considerada el ecosistema costero más grande de la porción occidental del Golfo de California, con una gran biodiversidad marina, que son de alto valor para la pesca ribereña y deportiva, además de ser un atractivo turístico por su extraordinaria belleza, de ahí la necesidad de lograr su recuperación, garantizar su protección y asegurar su aprovechamiento sustentable.
“Estamos trabajando gobierno y sociedad civil para mejorar la calidad ambiental de nuestra Ensenada de La Paz, la cual lamentablemente ha sido contaminada con la basura que arrastraron las pasadas lluvias y por los mismos desechos que las personas arrojan, por lo que hacemos un llamado a la conciencia y a la responsabilidad ciudadana para cuidar nuestra riqueza natural, pues sus recursos nos benefician a todos, por lo que es obligación de todos protegerlas”, finalizó Araiza López.
